If you've never visited the UNAVCO website, they have some great GPS data showing how the North America plate is moving, especially along the west coast of the United States. It is a great tool to help us understand the complex movements of plates, and just how much they are actually moving every year. In southern California, the crust is moving up to 2 inches every year! We may not be able to feel or see this movement, but we can measure this movement using highly sensitive GPS instruments. Check it out!
